Pros

Freedom to pursue stories that interest you so long as you get lots of clicks.

Cons

Quality of editorial staff is very uneven. Some love to hear themselves talk but lack depth. Too dominated by Philly based editors who seem not to understand bigger legal world. ALM has fired some of its best people over the years. The strongest writers and editors frequently leave too because there are too many idiots running the show. Not what it once was. Also no one knows what’s going on with senior management. I don’t think they care about journalism or understand it or value it. I’m not sure top editors know or care either.

Pros

The biggest pro was the opportunity to learn within a large dealership group environment. Working for a company with multiple rooftops provided exposure to a variety of accounting processes and operations.

Cons

Training and onboarding were limited due to the workload and staffing structure. Controllers were overseeing a high number of dealerships, which made hands-on training and support difficult at times.
