Pros

I met some of the best people at the Ad Council and have formed strong lifelong friendships. Some of the work is interesting and it is cool to be able to work on different campaigns and projects. As a Campaign Manager, I was exposed to all facets of the Advertising industry (PR, strategy, analytics etc.) and got to meet a lot of external people like clients, creative agencies etc. It's a great place to start at and gain exposure and learn a lot from.

Cons

They always talk about work life balance but that actually is not the case. The hours are really long and everyone on the team seems very swamped so there's no one really you can ask for help from. They also always promote how diverse the company is and how forward their DEI initiatives are, but it's actually quite far behind with a very white senior team. I also don't think they are the most creative place with the most innovative ideas..it seems like they tend to follow a lot of what other people/companies are doing.

Pros

I was part of the DC office campaign management team and spent nine years at the Ad Council. It was a place where I learned, grew, and worked alongside some of the smartest and most supportive people I’ve ever met. The work was meaningful and fast-paced, and the experience gave me so many tools I still use in my career today. Even though I left about four years ago, I still feel connected to the people and the mission. When I was recently laid off from another job, one of my former supervisors at the Ad Council reached out right away. She offered encouragement, made connections for me, and even introduced me to someone at the company where I just landed a new role. That kind of support, years after I left, meant the world to me. The Ad Council is the kind of place where relationships run deep and stick with you. If you're thinking about working there, just know you're not only joining a great organization, you're joining a community that stays in your corner.
