Pros

People - met and worked with some of the greatest people in my career. Extremely supportive and collaborative, and this is especially true in spaces like the ERGs and SIGs. Experience - a great place to learn just about everything within the advertising and communications space.

Cons

Office Culture - like many of the other reviews, I can attest to the Ad Council's terrible office culture. It can only best be described as a "high school" hierarchy where it's an openly discussed secret who is "in" and who is "out". Even up until recently I was being told what managers were openly saying about me and my coworkers, which further led to me leaving the organization. Work Life - teams are constantly stretched to the max with the expectation that you work late every night. Anything outside of that is "underperforming". DEI & B - This comes down to the "belonging" in DEIB and ties back to the overall office culture. Unfortunately, the ones with the most decision making power are the ones causing the problems to begin with. There is little to no accountability, and even less chance of any change with the current leadership.

Pros

I was part of the DC office campaign management team and spent nine years at the Ad Council. It was a place where I learned, grew, and worked alongside some of the smartest and most supportive people I’ve ever met. The work was meaningful and fast-paced, and the experience gave me so many tools I still use in my career today. Even though I left about four years ago, I still feel connected to the people and the mission. When I was recently laid off from another job, one of my former supervisors at the Ad Council reached out right away. She offered encouragement, made connections for me, and even introduced me to someone at the company where I just landed a new role. That kind of support, years after I left, meant the world to me. The Ad Council is the kind of place where relationships run deep and stick with you. If you're thinking about working there, just know you're not only joining a great organization, you're joining a community that stays in your corner.
