Pros

We have had many changes at the Stoke site since I have worked here. Brought three times in the time I have been here. The last year since we have a new plant manager has been the best part of my working time. She is an absolute pleasure to work for, team involvement is high on the agenda, everyone is treated fairly no favourites which is a big change.we never had a voice with previous manager she had her favourites, this has all stopped. We have employee engagement events she really does think outside the box and most people get involved. We have had changes to process and layout and she has done a fabulous job, when I think how we used to work to now is amazing. We also now have a very professional HR team who have made a difference we are no longer afraid of HR. It's the first time you can see it's now a professional work place. I'm so happy with the events, team environment, free monthly meal, free drinks, free toast, and freezer with meals in case we forget our lunch. We have a book exchange and do lots for local charities. It's now a pleasure to come to work and I hope my Plant Manager never leaves she would need cloning if so .look after this special woman she made everything so much better.

Cons

Minimum wage, work has been slower but picking up

Pros

There are some good people at Alkegen who really want to make a difference. Too bad those individuals aren't in senior leadership.

Cons

Alkegen's biggest con is its senior leadership and how they create a toxic work environment of micro managing their subordinates. I've seen some very toxic behaviors from leadership that I've never seen before in my career. I understand getting the job done, but people do have lives outside of work, and leadership doesn't seem to care at all. After dedicating your entire life to Alkegen, management decides no one gets a bonus next year. Besides that, their benefits were terrible, only offering a high deducible PPO with a small contribution to an HSA. My copay and deductible went through the roof. The unlimited PO is not really unlimited, since you're never allowed to disconnect since you're not afforded a work-life balance.
