Pros
1) Allina is a very large organization, which means your experience will depend largely on which department / teams you work with. My experience has been overall positive within my team. 2) immediate management / leadership is trying - both pro and con. Within my department our management has been more focused on areas like employee well being, retention, morale boosting etc. While I’m glad that these are being discussed, it should have been taken more seriously sooner, as any downstream effects are going to take time to reach the employees. 3) Compensation: Pay is fair (generally competitive as a salaried employee), medical benefit costs are comparable to other hospital systems, no automatic holiday days off but PTO accrues at a reasonable rate to use for holidays / time off. Some issues with temporary salary and other comp freezing due to COVID - see cons.
Cons
1) The overall structure appears a bit disorganized, even as a large employer. It can be difficult to navigate things like performance reviews, vacation requests, etc. because they are not as streamlined across the system as i have seen at other jobs. This leads to having to rely more on your immediate management for these issues. 2) Unsure if this is due to COVID or the pandemic has just exacerbated an already existing problem, but lack of pay increases result in low morale and increased turnover, which also results in being chronically short staffed. While there is some understanding that COVID caused financial strain on hospitals, it is quite hard to suggest Allina is promoting employee wellbeing while also forcing them into pay stagnation.
