Pros

Alphasense has a positive brand and I believe the company will have a successful IPO. There is extensive enablement support. Many of the challenges at AlphaSense are not unique to just this company, and generally come with the territory of tech sales - it’s fast paced, and there’s constant change, high expectations, and lots of pressure. Management is poorly trained and often struggles to give real feedback. I could go on and even focus this review entirely on these challenges, but in my opinion, none of these factors alone necessarily make AlphaSense a bad place to work, let alone are they anything worth leaving a Glassdoor review about.

Cons

AlphaSense is a toxic environment because there is a pervasive culture of discrimination. I’m not saying that AlphaSense should pay attention to this because it’s the right thing to do. (It is the right thing to do, but I’m under no delusion that AlphaSense cares about that). At this point, this has become a business issue. Investors care about ESG, not just because it’s a nice thing to do, but because it has undeniably become a factor in the way we do business. If AlphaSense wants a successful IPO, they need to show some level of commitment to diversity. But if the past few years are any indication, AlphaSense will show dwindling diversity metrics, at best, when IPO season rolls around.  It’s true that there are known bullies at AlphaSense who have a reputation for targeting women and people of color, and these bullies are consistently protected by management. But it’s not just a few bad apples. AlphaSense has a severe discriminatory culture at its core. Men are consistently paid more than women (HR will comment on this review and say this isn’t true, do with that what you will), women are targeted in group and 1:1 settings and belittled, talked down to, and bullied, and for many women and people of color, the treatment becomes such a hinderance to performance that they have no choice but to leave the company. There are several other reviews on Glassdoor corroborating this point.

serious growing pains. Territories have shrunk, qouta has gone up, SDRs cant book meetings, seasoned AEs are cold calling like junior reps. comp landscape has become very murky and proprietary tech is limited Terrible VP overseeing NYC financial services team. no strategy other than call more and sell more. allowed tenured reps to call their own territories leaving garbage for the rest.
