Toxic environment with no support or accountability - Senior Software Engineer AppZen Employee Review

Pros

There are NO pros working in this company. In fact calling this small unit a "Company" is itself a joke! Do not join this company at any cost because within 2-3 months you will notice that there are folks sitting in this company for years and owner and india head know them and they "bully" people and steal their credits. They just push you each day so hard mentally so that you will break and leave the org and their importance will remain as is. Products both expense and AP are 1 star. All projects are escalated and reason is internal politics and no process. Keep in mind the top leadership know the flows but they just want to eat revenue from subscription model and keep the flow as is as they have their personal goals set and done. All in all no pros at all working here.

Cons

1. Total choas each day. As each person will show point to other department and no one wanted to take responsibility. 2. Each day will be hard to spend. Every Friday note every Friday you should be in office to attain "All Hands". Such a JOKE...every Friday! 3. Product team is so rude that custom gets "Churn" but they don't implement solutions and let go to customer. 4. Every custom gives almost every day negative feedback about company's policy and leadership but they just want salary to get credited every month and rest them put pressure on people below their hierarchy instead of making change to faulted internal process and system 5. India Head is like a headmaster come and shout in front of everyone for any small mistake you do. He just want to keep his head above although you have done 100% of your job. So be aware they will HIRE and FIRE you if you are not fall in line or praise them and be "His Highness" good books. 6. People will 10-15 years of experience try to give advice but they don't want to listen and they show as if they are "Apple" or "Meta" if feel so comedy and people keep laughing behind their back. 7. They don't provide health insurance for parents. Very big con people they have that much money but think twice. 8. HR is puppet of leadership as usual. If you will tell them even a small thing they will go and tell leadership and then you are screwed.

Pros

Great products and visionary leadership. Always at the leading edge of technology and innovation. The best part is the culture and great people to uphold the values.

Cons

Nothing I can think of. The situation is very similar to the other startup where efficiency matters most and high throughput is expected. So everyone is expected to deliver aggressive timelines with the usage of AI tools.

Pros

I’ve been in People Operations here for over four years as an individual contributor, and overall, it’s been a very rewarding experience. The biggest pro is the opportunity for growth. I’ve consistently felt challenged in my role and have been given new projects and opportunities that have pushed me outside my comfort zone in a good way. If you’re someone who wants to learn quickly and take on meaningful work, there’s plenty of room to do that here. I’ve also been able to see the impact of my work pretty immediately, which is incredibly motivating. The people are another major highlight. The team is collaborative, supportive, and always willing to jump in to help. There’s a strong sense of partnership across teams, and that makes even the busiest times manageable.

Cons

It’s definitely a fast-paced environment, and you have to be quick on your feet. Priorities can shift, and you need to be comfortable operating with some ambiguity. That won’t be for everyone. But if you thrive in an agile, high-energy environment and enjoy being challenged, this is a great place to grow and build your career.
