Pros

Competitive salary and brilliant people in nearly all departments.

Cons

Incredibly toxic leadership; I simply can’t state enough how unhealthy the culture has become. Teams members are scared to speak up for fear of being fired for providing even the slightest constructive feedback. There’s an utter lack of strategy and direction within the departments and the company as a whole. Incredible company values however, they are not the values demonstrated at nearly any level. Leadership uses all the appropriate buzz words in public, but their actions contradict those words and values. Employees who communicate concerns are retaliated against despite being assured “we don’t allow retaliation”. They are remote first, but require travel and don’t declare it until you’re hired. Suggesting methods to improve efficiency within a team (the majority of teams have horribly inefficient workflows that aren’t scalable to the company’s growth) essentially destroys your career. Most teams are so over-allocated with work, everything has to be done “quick and dirty” instead of thoroughly and effectively.

Pros

Appfire has a strong remote-first culture. People are trusted to own their work, and there's a genuine effort to support work-life balance rather than just talk about it. The company values are embedded in our daily work and it's regularly seen when collaborating across departments and countries. Leadership encourages curiosity and continuous improvement, and there are plenty of opportunities to take on new challenges and grow your skills. I can honestly say that this is the brightest group of people I've ever seen at an organization. The global nature of the company also means you get exposure to different perspectives and ways of working. Appfire emphasizes flexibility, employee development, and a people-first culture.

Cons

Like many fast-growing companies, priorities can shift quickly, and keeping up with organizational changes can sometimes be challenging. Working across multiple time zones requires flexibility, and communication can occasionally take longer when coordinating globally. There is a lot of opportunity, but that can also mean balancing priorities. It's no secret that these challenges are present but the same would be true for any global organization.
