Pros

I worked at BambooHR for over 5 years, and in that time I saw a lot of positive changes, mixed in with a lot of gaslighting. There is an expectation to grow from good to great, but don't expect to be compensated for that growth. Bamboo is very open about their financial position, which is wonderful, but it backfires when they claim they don't have the resources to adequately pay their most important resources, their employees. They hype up their benefits, which were novel back in 2016, but are now common place. The $2,000 paid paid vacation is nice, but falls short when you realize you could be making at least 10k more at another company. It's nice that there is a culture of prioritizing taking time off.

Cons

BambooHR is no longer unique. It's a tech company, masquerading as a HR industry leader, while not practicing what they preach. If you've been to Utah County, you know about the veneer over the culture, and the prevalence of yes men. Bamboo is not immune from that. In fact, Bamboo goes out of its way to recruit out of state management that fits into that mold. If you don't fit the Utah County mold, expect a lot of friction.

Pros

At the end of my tenure, I really have no pros.

Cons

I'm pretty sure I was "quietly laid off", in the effort of sneaky downsizing without having to actually do formal layoffs. This place was a godsend and a great place to work on my small independent team, and I did great. Then they did massive restructuring, added layers of hierarchy, added process, and basically just starting running a creative team like a line of factory workers. I had a horrible time with my manager on so many different levels, and felt validation when others would reflect the same, but I reflect what everyone else says - narcissistic, micro managing leadership that I now understand play manipulation games. I was put on a performance improvement plan and finally quit due to burnout, stress, and the dissolution of a role and a team that I had from before. They constantly push for solutions and deliverables, but I never really saw anything I delivered actually get treated and implemented with respect. Company policies and siloed team policies and procedures stymie actual effectiveness, and it seems like the leadership acts as your strict grade school teacher rather than having your back.
