Pros

If you are a new AE their SMB (AE1) role is fantastic. Great opportunity to learn sales and hone your skills. I don’t recommend going further than that.

Cons

I worked at BambooHR for over a year. I started in the AE1 role and hit my stride early. I was a top quota attaining rep month after month. I led the AE1 group and received a great deal of recognition and awards for being a top 3 performer month after month. Towards the end of my first year I was contacted by marketing to help them strategize ways to improve add-on attach rates on the sales floor after being the floor leader across all AE categories (1, 2, Senior) Around this same time I received my AE2 promotion. I was thrilled at the opportunity but little did I know this was the start of the end for me. During my short ramping period I had a few weaker months, which I feel should be expected adjusting to a different role. My manager assured me that it’s okay and that the other leaders knew my value and weren’t concerned about my performance. Not even a month later (right before Christmas) I was called into a meeting where I would be let go. My manager was in tears, she fought for me to keep my job but the higher ups said I had to go. This was NEVER on my radar, no PIP or good-to-great (BambooHRs own improvement plan) … nothing. If you are looking for a Mid-Market job or senior role this isn’t the place for you.

Pros

At the end of my tenure, I really have no pros.

Cons

I'm pretty sure I was "quietly laid off", in the effort of sneaky downsizing without having to actually do formal layoffs. This place was a godsend and a great place to work on my small independent team, and I did great. Then they did massive restructuring, added layers of hierarchy, added process, and basically just starting running a creative team like a line of factory workers. I had a horrible time with my manager on so many different levels, and felt validation when others would reflect the same, but I reflect what everyone else says - narcissistic, micro managing leadership that I now understand play manipulation games. I was put on a performance improvement plan and finally quit due to burnout, stress, and the dissolution of a role and a team that I had from before. They constantly push for solutions and deliverables, but I never really saw anything I delivered actually get treated and implemented with respect. Company policies and siloed team policies and procedures stymie actual effectiveness, and it seems like the leadership acts as your strict grade school teacher rather than having your back.
