Cons
Benihana is a VERY toxic and highly stressful environment, which is a lot like high-school where the mean girls target/harass everyone else. Promotions aren’t based on merit or experience but based on how long you’ve been with the company (5 years or more automatically gets you a promotion) , or if you have a connection to those in a key position. Benihana has established policies but doesn’t apply to everyone. Pictures and videos are taken of employees without their consent. Benefits are very limited and expensive because the company is always trying to save, so all decisions are based on cost and not on the efficiency for the business. Additionally, The HR Department is a mess. There’s no true HR within the organization just legal. The open door policy is a lie because if it doesn’t fit the upper management agenda they will try to get rid of you or push you out.
