Pros

This company is a great place to get on your resume and to gain experience. They're a $1.3 billion dollar company so their name has value. You can learn a lot here so it has a fairly strong educational value. They get mind-blowing talent in the door, but it's almost as mind-blowing how poorly they utilize that talent. Pay is decent, nothing special. Benefits are middle of the road. The rank and file are some of the coolest and best people to work with - management, not so much. It's a great starter job in the industry. Get in, get a few years, and get out with your sanity.

Cons

This is not a place I recommend building a career. You'll find fairly quickly that having an opinion of your own is not an appreciated quality. Raising concerns is the fastest way to find yourself being walked out of the building in my opinion. There is a lot of talk about having an open and collaborative culture. What this really means is that you're expected to drink the cool-aid with a smile. Make sure you get every single directive in writing from someone above you. You could very quickly find yourself the scapegoat in their parade of endless lawsuits. Also, they're notorious for their use of non-competes to limit competition, so have an exit strategy well established. I liked the people I worked with, but management killed my desire to stay. I left to find much better opportunities in the city, of which there are plenty. These are just the thoughts and opinions of a former employee.

Pros

Fast paced environment with LOTS of hands-on experience with many different tools. The people are the reason to stay, lots of smart and caring people, managers, and leaders towards the bottom of the food chain.

Cons

Upper Management has completely destroyed this company and gutted it. In my several years at the company, communication is as poor as it could be. Bonuses are promised and then not followed up on. RIFs happen far too frequently. It is abundantly clear that this company does NOT care about it's employees, and at the moment is almost seems like they are trying as hard as they can to get people to quit so they don't have to pay severances before acquiring more companies and moving headquarters to Texas. The culture in the days of Overstock was incredible, it made people excited about being able to work there. Now people are hanging on by threads, large teams are now carried on the backs of just 1-2 people without additional pay as we see co-workers get laid off left and right. It is not sustainable. Important things are being missed because there are not enough people to do the work, which will end up biting the company in the butt for compliance and finance reasons.
