Pros

The new building will be nice, but I'm not sure how long they think they can stay in business.

Cons

Crazy, unqualified people at every level. The board at any other publically traded company, seem to have some element of influence, however, at The Big O, they are truly a false diety in the boardroom of paegan symbols. They are as useless as nipples on a boar, they are a dog without teeth, they speak loudly but carry no stick. The board are all just a bunch of puppets, doing a little puppet dance every quarter, that the puppeteer makes them do. Other on-line companies are getting talent rich and actually understand that talent matters. Overstock's talent is bleeding like a sieve and Stormy and Patrick sit back and chuckle and laugh and giggle that those people don't matter anyways... I'm scared to death of what is transpiring here. It is unlike anyplace I've ever witnessed. Castles made of sand slips into the sea, Eventually.

Thanks for the comment. I would point out that Overstock has hired over 150 associates, not including Customer Care, in recent months with amazing qualifications from all over the world. The People Care team has been soliciting and examining feedback to continually evaluate benefit programs that fit the needs of the organization. The new building will be nice and will include an amenities building with a gym, clinic, and daycare options for associates. I'm sorry your evaluation differs, but Overstock.com is a progressive company where hard work, fairness, and reward are in its DNA. If you have ideas that you would like to share that would help improve your experience. Feel free to reach out to anyone in People Care. Brian

Pros

Fast paced environment with LOTS of hands-on experience with many different tools. The people are the reason to stay, lots of smart and caring people, managers, and leaders towards the bottom of the food chain.

Cons

Upper Management has completely destroyed this company and gutted it. In my several years at the company, communication is as poor as it could be. Bonuses are promised and then not followed up on. RIFs happen far too frequently. It is abundantly clear that this company does NOT care about it's employees, and at the moment is almost seems like they are trying as hard as they can to get people to quit so they don't have to pay severances before acquiring more companies and moving headquarters to Texas. The culture in the days of Overstock was incredible, it made people excited about being able to work there. Now people are hanging on by threads, large teams are now carried on the backs of just 1-2 people without additional pay as we see co-workers get laid off left and right. It is not sustainable. Important things are being missed because there are not enough people to do the work, which will end up biting the company in the butt for compliance and finance reasons.
