Pros

The people are generally very smart and nice, job is stable, most of the company is in NYC so no international meetings after 5pm. Engineering can be a bit frustrating with so much proprietary and legacy tech. I genuinely believe the company and Mike Bloomberg himself are trying to do good.

Cons

Job is not as stable as they say, there have been layoff with teams getting disbanded and you have to find a new job position, if you don't then you're gone. Salary is fairly mediocre for the industry, bonus is annually so if you get let go a week before payout you lost the whole thing. Benefits/Pay department can be surly, they messed up a paycheck and I was underpaid $1200. They acknowledged the error, but because of an issue with their accounting software and 3rd party pay company they said it was impossible to reimburse me. This is the main reason I started looking for a new job and subsequently saw I was underpaid and left.

Pros

Stable company with excellent compensation and benefits. Great place to build a strong foundation in data center operations and enterprise infrastructure. Exposure to a wide range of technologies, vendors, and production environments. Collaborative culture with supportive coworkers and a healthy work-life balance. Good environment for learning the fundamentals of hardware deployment, troubleshooting, networking, and large-scale infrastructure.

Cons

Career growth can be slow due to a very flat organizational structure and low turnover in senior positions. Limited opportunities to develop new technical skills or take ownership of major infrastructure projects. Training and professional development opportunities can be inconsistent and may depend on management support rather than individual initiative. Engineers looking for greater technical ownership, innovation, or faster career progression may eventually outgrow the role.
