Pros
- Great hours, strictly 9-5 and entirely remote with option to go to office in BMC campus whenever you want. - Amazing management who truly care about you and your career development. Genuinely the best mentorship I ever had, even after working at prestigious economic consulting / MBB before hand. - Great exposure to american healthcare system. Got to deal with hospital administrators, community health leaders, physicians, and state public health officials. - Feels like you are making a difference. Lots of projects help vulnerable groups like substance use disorder patients, houseless folks, and underserved racial minorities. - Genuinely lovely colleagues, most of whom have advanced degrees / lots of public health experience and can teach you a thing or two.
Cons
- Pace of work can be too slow, since its after all a nonprofit organization with lots of internal bureaucracy. - The data analytics team often don't have the best tech / IT support. Have spent entire days on the phone with BMC's tech team trying to get equipment / authorization access. - Work can get boring after a while, since a large chunk of tasks involve the minutiae of analyzing healthcare claims data.
