Pros

There are some genuinely good people at Cumulus Media. A small group of coworkers made the experience bearable, and I’m grateful to have met them. You also occasionally get the chance to work interesting events, which can be enjoyable when everything else isn’t overwhelming.

Cons

Expect to work at least 60 hours a week, including nights and weekends, and expect it often. Work-life balance is virtually nonexistent, and the toll it takes adds up quickly. Raises are unlikely. Even if your department performs well and hits budget, the company’s larger financial struggles become the excuse. Communication about raises or development opportunities is usually last-minute at best, or never addressed at all. Management tends to view employees purely through the lens of output—what you can produce and how much revenue you can generate. You are not treated like a human being with limits. Salespeople will call you during office hours, after hours, and on weekends. Even on approved PTO, you are expected to answer calls and emails immediately. Your direct manager will often not be your real decision-maker; top-performing salespeople override creative and production leadership regularly. Receiving feedback becomes confusing because you never know whose vision you’re supposed to prioritize. The lack of structure and respect for boundaries makes the job unsustainable. If you value a healthy personal life, I would strongly recommend avoiding this environment.

Pros

Given a fair amount of autonomy.

Cons

Leadership favored appointing family friends to management roles where they were not effective. I can't select the proper year on this review, so take my perspective with a grain of salt. This may have changed since then.
