Pros

The best reason I have to work here at Charlie's Produce is to learn what it's like to work for a horrible company. It will teach you what to look out for in future jobs.

Cons

The employee's that have been there for more than a year have a sense of entitlement. Working for this company was like reentering high school. The amount of gossip and general pettiness that continues on a daily basis is astounding. Over the year and a half that I was employed by this company I was unfortunately very close near the owners. The owners who on countless occasions brought employee's into their office to yell and humiliate them. They would leave the door open for all the office to hear and frankly the few times in which they did close the door it did not make a difference. You still heard the yelling and humiliating that went on. EVERY employee that works there is severely UNDER paid and over worked. On a daily basis the company is growing business but the owners refuse to increase pay or add additional employee's. However I don't think new employee's would last in such a horrific environment. Unless you are related to one of the owners or one of the many employee's that work there you will not succeed in such a facility. It is very 'clicky' and very much run on a matter of favoritism rather than work ethic.

Pros

People are friendly, management team makes great decisions for what is best for the company and it's employees long term. Great place to build a retirement. Great growth within the company.

Cons

No cons that I can think of.

Pros

Selling fresh fruits and vegetables is fun! ESOP is just the dangling of the carrot. Seems to be the new corporate buzz word.

Cons

No culture or core values. And yes, what makes them amazing is the people! But at which company is that not the case? Inconsistent job titles, responsibilities, systems and disciplinary actions across all divisions in the company. No transparency or explanations as to why things are the way they are. Slow to adapt to changing technology landscape. Family company, but are all the in-laws and cousins the right fit for all the roles? They might be the largest private wholesaler on the West Coast but that hasn't created any purchasing power to be used as an advantage. With Co-CEO's, half divisions run one way, the others another way. Very fragmented structure. HR is not there to support employees, purely to protect senior staff/executives and company. "Too many Chiefs, not enough Indians."
