Pros

I have really enjoyed my time so far as a corporate filer. I left a 16-year career as a pastry chef back in early 2017 and have lived in three different states AND cities in the last 2.5 years, trying to figure out what else I have to offer the world while my husband climbs the ladder in his own career. I probably wasn't the most qualified candidate on paper, for this position. However, I discovered an odd love of back-office work while employed as a chiropractic assistant and front-office admin before moving to Spokane. My love of details and paperwork has lent itself useful in this position, and I'm incredibly grateful this company took a chance on this wandering transplant. The job is sometimes a bit high-volume and stressful in terms of work, but it's never overwhelming. I have loads of help from my team, and I've been blessed with senior filers who have stepped in and walked me through issues that would otherwise have me terrified to tackle on my own. Speaking of my team, my co-workers are WONDERFUL. Everyone is so unique and from different backgrounds, and yet we all just click and get along beautifully. This company values working hard and playing equally as hard. The work facility sits right alongside the Spokane River, which was a huge draw for this city girl. I LOVE being able to take a morning and afternoon break, sipping coffee and watching geese, ducks, and eagles from our patio, overlooking the river. We have outdoor pickleball and basketball courts for employees to blow off steam. And the break room is awesomely equipped with every dry, crunchy snack and sweet candy one could want or need. Oh, and free coffee from a local roaster! My salary is incredibly fair for the job I'm doing and especially with the lesser amount of experience I have compared to my coworkers. The amount of paid time off that is possible to accrue is nearly unheard of in most other jobs similar to this one. The company also does something really nice each month for all the employees, whether it's buying lunch or paying for an outing. I'm very happy to be a part of this team, and this is coming from a girl who historically likes to do her own thing without too many interruptions of people around. :-)

Cons

For me this isn't necessarily a con, but this company is still growing and doing so rapidly. This means that policies are often changing, and one needs to be able to roll with the punches to succeed within their role. If you are the type of person that requires a detailed training manual and lots of hand-holding along the way, this might not be the place for you. That said, there is ALWAYS help. You'll never be left to figure anything out alone if you aren't sure of something. It's just that you need to have a personality that can mesh well with this company's incredibly unique internal culture, and you need to have flexibility.

Pros

- Interview & on-boarding process was comfortable, casual, but still professional. It wasn't intimidating but exciting to join the team. - Transparency, transparency, transparency. Can this company get a little messy? Yeah, but every company is. The others just don't show you what's going on behind closed doors. - No micro management, complete ownership over your work. - Amazing benefits. FREE medical & dental if you don't have any dependents (those would cost $$). - 401k is insane. My current dollar amount is near doubled compared to my previous job where I worked for 4 years. I have been here for 1 year. - Mix of remote and in-office employees, lots of different backgrounds, everyone is encouraged to be themselves. - Company provides COLA raises whenever possible to help us all with the cost of living. Did not ever receive that at my previous company. - Constantly encouraged to work hard BUT also have fun and take time for yourself. - INSANE PTO! It rolls over yearly and has no limits.

Cons

- This was a tiny company 5 years ago that has grown significantly. Have there been bumps in the road? For sure, but that happens anywhere, even when there is no growth. - Layoffs have been hard to watch and there are some growing pains after such a significant event happens at a company. However, seeing almost every huge company going through the same thing shows me this isn't just a Corporate Tools problem. This is an economy problem.
