Pros
Occasionally make your own hours. Not sitting in one place the entire day. Occasionally get extra pay for training newcomers. Sometimes feels rewarding if you like to organize things.
Cons
Terrible pay with no, or at the very least, barely noticeable raise(s) even for senior employees. Management is hit or miss with helpfulness, and seems to change every couple months. Often expected to pick up the slack of less productive employees while still trying to manage your own assigned stores. Job schedule can go from nonexistent to chaotically full from week to week. Set amount of pay for each job that does not consider things such as frustrating Dollar General fixtures, merchandiser experience, terrible apps, or number of workers on a project - you essentially have to share the money with anyone you work with. Bigger jobs = more pay, but some of then can be very stressful and repetitive, with the worst ones even taking 12 hours or more. Hit or miss whether the Dollar General management has their stuff together or not. Some are very professional and tidy, others not so much. Hit or miss whether a DG manager is hands-off, micromanaging, friendly, indifferent, condescending, or straight up hostile. Occasionally have to deal with rude customers or Dollar General employees.
