Pros
Exposure to products from industries that run the gamut from personal care to large industrialI machinery. In terms of learning what is used in industry, how is used and why, this is a great place to get that exposure. Professional staff. You will work alongside persons who are the best at what they do. Flexible working hours. Remote working is feasible for many professional positions and there is no rigid time clock or management watching when you come and go. Take care of the customers and make the company money and you will have as much autonomy as you need.
Cons
There is little to no real sense of community among the people. Everyone gets along well enough, but there is no priority placed on making it a true team. Overwrought emphasis on making money. Every decision is done for the sake of making money. As a commercial test lab that is not surprising, but the degree to which it is emphasized before almost anything else becomes tiresome and a distraction. Company had grown incredibly in short period of time and has the requisite growing pains. IT issues, inconsistent directives and mandates, little to no follow up on a directive unless money is at the center, lack of understanding as to what capabilities exist at other sites, etc. If your interest is in getting exposure to and serving a large swath of industrial sectors, AND you don't need the workplace to be a home away from home AND if you can tune out the noise, then this is a good place to work. If those are issues for you then perhaps this isn't the place for you.
