Pros
-From leadership to entry level employees, everyone is genuinely committed to the mission. I heard the president & founder of the company say on multiple occasions that the company will continue to pursue whatever work will deliver the greatest impacts, so you never lose sight of why you're there or why you're doing what you're doing. -The PEOPLE! ES prides itself on being a professional, collaborative environment that hires smart people with 'good kindergarten skills'. As a result, everyone there is really pleasant to be around and always down to help each other learn or lend a hand. Staff are all really bright, competent, knowledgable people that are also very down to earth. Managers know how to manage, leadership has a strong understanding of the industry and how to move forward. -The work itself (at least in the EE department) is really varied which keeps the day to day interesting and fun. Things move at a quick but comfortable pace. The company emphasizes how much they want people to stick around long-term, and in my experience everyone was super willing to work with you to pursue different types of work that might be more up your alley than others. No one gets 'stuck' doing one thing all the time. (I think this can be viewed as a con for people who DO want to do one thing all the time) -There is a ton of room for growth and knowledge-building, with a clear path on how to move forward & gain more skills and responsibilities. (I see this as a pro, but I think some people prefer a more 'open/unstructured' environment, so YMMV) -ESOP if you stick around -ES is growing at a solid pace because they have strategic planning and they are good at what they do. The programs and projects they have going are really cool and cutting edge in the EE world. -There is a solid work-life balance, and the company/leadership treats employees like human beings. Again, ES wants employees to stick around and really seem to 'get it' when it comes to investing in their staff. Overall the company is flexible in terms of when you spend your hours: I had co-workers who would start as early as 7:30am and be done earlier in the day, and others who were night owls and preferred to start around 10am and work till evening. Everyone gets a good amount of time off and if you occasionally have to work a long day you can head out early the next day (or whenever you want, really). As some of the other reviews noted, there used to be a policy of expecting an average of 42.5 hours per week, which actually may be an accurate representation of the workload, but it's not a hard rule. People just expect you to produce quality work in a reasonable time-frame.
Cons
-Consulting and doing client-facing work is not for everyone. The work is fast paced (which is a pro IMHO), but in my view those who thrive the most in their roles and career growth are flexible and able to adapt without sweating it. -Because the work if varied by nature, most people wear many hats. This is a pro to some and a con to others who want to stay focused on one specific type of work or role. There are some positions available for those who want to be 'the expert in x' but by and large the work attracts 'jack of all trades' types.
