Pros

- Really great culture with one of the most hard-working and talented people that I've worked with. People have high work standards and are driven by quality of work which is great and very motivating - Lots of opportunities to grow and learn. This is probably where I have learned the most in my career. You also get a lot thrown at you at once once you show that you are capable. - Promotions are fairly quick in terms of timeline. - Work schedule is flexible and mostly remote - Management do not micromanage - When you get your work done, you actually get recognized

Cons

- Many people have left including leadership over the past year. Going through lots of organizational changes that can be hard for the employee - Poor work-life balance and PTO. The target of 2040 hours worked per year is "not-really-a-target" but kinda is. Leadership reserves the right to use this number to make people work more or jeopardize their bonus amount at the end of the year. The policy is vague. Employees could be working 9-10 hours/day just to make up for this, because of their flexible PTO policy with no federal holidays. You essentially have to make up the holidays that you take because you're not hitting your hours. - Pay is low. Barely any increases between promotions that barely make up for inflation per year. - Promotions can be quick but their standards or expectations for promotions are quite vague and not well-defined, making the promotion process dependent on the manager and your team's needs. - The manager managing you may not actually be in your job track and therefore are not knowledgeable about the work you are doing. On that note, there is a lack of consistency in responsibilities between team members who work the same title. It all depends on the project and team you are on.

Pros

The ostensible mission seemed lofty, lots of mechanisms to help employees discuss why a seemingly flat organization is actually riddled with hierarchies and old boys' club mentality

Cons

I had hoped against hope that this would be a dream job, and that is certainly how recruiters try to sell it: great mission with great people who have *great* kindergarten skills. What I found was that there was a lot of lying by the management team, lying on performance appraisals and lying about the lying. I'm not totally unsympathetic: office politics can get complicated and people want to protect their own livelihoods against external pressures. But if you are going to lie about basic terms of employment and your review process, don't slap yourself on the back about the team player that you are.
