Remote work, some benefits are ok. PTO is purely laughable.
Cons
Surprised that the PM's when I came onboard didn't actually do any kind of Scrum/Agile, but said they were doing it. They lacked backlog grooming/review, they had work defined from 3-5 years ago that was untouched. Budgets are very very lean so expect that you will just be amazed at the lack of cost control in the environment and who is given authority to allow budget spends without having it reviewed by Senior/Architects. Yet this company bean counters everything that you do, and when I say everything, it's EVERYTHING. If you do happen to work over 8-9 hours they question why you are working more and then you attempt to put some logic as to why their 2040 hours/year policy makes any sense and you figure out that its actually against hard working peoples ethic. Then they are actively making you work 42.5 hours a week, in order to get PTO time. When you do have a sick day, they question you and then make you feel bad that things didn't get closed out in time. If you happen to take a job here make sure you take premium hourly/yearly on it because you will not be there for long. HR recently also incorporated a "great" new policy, if your timesheet is late 5 times , they will revoke your bonus (even if you worked really hard) which I consider unacceptable for any company to remove your bonus especially if you are producing for something as a timesheet submission. Parental leave is non existent here either, especially if you are having a baby, I was only given 2 days for the birth of my son and during the hurricanes I was ostracized for having to relocate to GA during that time frame. Then to make matters worse, lacked onboarding of systems and information, and I was blamed for their cost increases that they implemented weeks/months prior. On top of it all , their onboarding is rather lacking and limited ultimately, very old documentation. People always leaving and supporting the environment becomes harder. They give you 40 dollars for Internet, but that barely covers the cost and taxes on internet and my submissions were denied several times because it didnt include (notes or proximity location to the office which is unheard of in finance when you are remote) . Asking for follow through from leaders or even guidance doesn't happen either. Leaders just state that you are Senior and as a Senior they expect this and that when they need to attack your work ethic. Most of this is my opinion and that this company hires also for quick needs and summarily gets rid of those who produce output. They will quickly obtain the documentation to items and then summarily walk you out the door. The company also operates very much in tandem with money that they can grab from government/energy related programs that are related to rebates, but how much these programs actually garner in success is questionable and my guess is that they are sold internally to companies and governments that have funding to programs. The leadership is also extremely detached with the human element and there aren't proper synergies between teams either. Things like security are quietly swept under the rug and too much privilege is issues to the PM's who think they are engineers. Often times, PM's lack the Technical knowledge to actually do the work, but will file the work to be done with limited information or acceptance criteria. Sometimes the work information inside the work item is completely WRONG acceptance criteria and you have be very careful, to not be the cause of the issue due to that inaccurate nature of the work item.
