Pros

Great first job, lots of learning opportunities, good exposure to healthcare industry, and a lot of opportunity to learn just about anything you are interested in. Solid benefits, excellent perks. Beautiful campus, great food, comfortable work environment. Generally, your coworkers are very capable and trustworthy people. There is a general lack of experience, but the caliper of employee makes up for that (mostly). Very dedicated and knowledgeable leadership, which results in a strict adherence to the company mission statement...especially the "Do Good" part.

Cons

Experienced employees are not valued any more than a 1yr employee. Company policy is based on the needs of young employees (mostly business majors from privileged backgrounds) who haven't yet proven their abilities to work independently without much oversight. These policies and restrictions are tedious for senior employees, who can be very effective without jumping through the hoops that the new staff has to. Benefits are good, but for the amount of money Epic brings in, they should be much better. It is disappointing that the company doesn't provide more corporate leadership in this regard. It is completely unacceptable that Epic doesn't offer paid family leave, that it's vacation time is so limited, and that it's sick time policies are so full of red tape. There is an army of unqualified TLs. It's a complete lottery draw whether you'll get a good TL or a bad TL. And your TL directly affects how happy you will be. They decide what company policy they want to enforce and to what extent. They also determine which projects you work on, which has a direct correlation to number of hours, job happiness, and your value to your team, role, division, and company overall. Too much power is put into the hands of inexperienced managers.

Pros

Impact: You are part of creating systemic level change for healthcare organizations. You get to be on site and work directly with providers and see how these changes impact their communities. People: Extremely smart and capable. I feel like I can rely on my team in a way I haven't at previous employers. New hires are entry level, so there's a strong community for people in a similar stage of life. Culture: Quirky but in a real, unique way. People are collaborative and celebrate shared accomplishments. The campus enshrines a very specific (and fun!) vibe. Location: Madison is awesome. Benefits: The health insurance is unparalleled. Sabbatical is a super cool perk too. Growth: A lot of autonomy and responsibility allows people to rise to the challenge. Stability: Solid industry, no lay-offs.

Cons

Remote work flexibility: 5 days a year
