Pros

The supervisors at Eskenazi work very hard to ensure that Care Coordinators are being hired onto teams that compliment their strengths as so much work in done in a team setting. I believe this helps employees grow as well as benefits clients for their whole treatment team is stronger and more knowledgeable about resources in the community. I found the pay to be fair, especially as Care Coordinators are often people with BSW's or Bachelor Degrees with some related work history such as criminal justice, political science, or perhaps something in public health.

Cons

There are satellite clinics outside of the hospital, the immediate care clinics as well as all of the Eskenazi Midtown Community Mental Health Centers. These centers are strategically located within the communities of Indianapolis that need them most but often lack amenities for the employees. Parking was often not to be found which could have jeoparized job time; imagine coming back from a home visit with a client but not being able to park at your own building, or on the street, or even within two-three blocks of the building. It would have been a dream to work at the hospital and have access to the cafeteria, the wellness center, the classes offered, etc. The hours at the smaller clinics do not allow employees access to these facilities unless you jeopardize taking time off instead of getting your required monthly hours. At my location, we also did not have consistent janitorial staff and with our population, this often meant bodily fluids were spilled, restrooms were smeared with feces or urine, and the employees do not have a separate area for lunch breaks, etc which ensures that we are accessed at all times, even when we need our break.

Pros

Meaningful work, flexible management, and a four day work week at specific locations.

Cons

Extremely draining, no included sick days or holidays forcing you to use PTO, unresponsive to feedback, low morale among staff, generally a sad culture.
