Pros

There is a reason Eversource was ranked the 21st Best Company to work for in the United States by Business Insider. Employees at Eversource receive very competitive salaries (median salary is $106K), along with a tremendous benefit package, which includes two 401K plans with company match, three-weeks vacation to start, and a tuition reimbursement program for those looking to further their education. Although these are just a few "hot items" people look for in a company, Eversource provides multiple ways for employees to advance their careers through multiple development programs. If you work hard and yield positive results, you are rewarded accordingly. Additionally, our new CEO's vision is aimed to improve both the overall experience for our external customers, as well as increase the value on employee engagement across the company. To me, this is how a utility should be run.

Cons

While the company seems to be doing a better job of this, we need more millennial-aged employees. The average age of employees seems to be mid-late 50's, and while this is not necessarily a "con", I feel that we need to attract and retain the next generation of employees to carry the company into the future.

Pros

Good pay and benefits. Normal vacation. Interesting job, meaning it’ll keep you mind sharp.

Cons

There are no goals or expectations set that allows you to prove you’re ready for growth. The only way to advance your career is to be one of the cool guys OR work 16 hours a day and weekends. Bonuses and merit increase is the same across the board no matter how much extra you do. The work force is too small for customer/management and the expectations are set too high. There are not enough vehicles for the work force and often times trainees have no way of getting to the job site. We would run out of stock items (cable, wire, connections, transformer, safety gear) that are necessary to keep the power on. Our best coworkers have left for biggest competitor…me too.
