Pros

I have been very fortunate throughout my Electrical Engineering career working at Eversource-NH. I was privileged to work with highly qualified and skilled field workers, engineers and fellow employees. I was able to apply and refine many of the engineering principles learned in college and gained invaluable on the job training. I have worked in many areas within the company including Distribution Engineering, System Planning, Line Department Operations, and Substation Engineering both Transmission and Distribution. I feel it has been the people and culture of the organization that had the greatest impact on me. I have experienced a willingness across the company to provide help and answer questions whenever I needed it. I am also grateful for the strong Safety culture within our company. The electric utilities industry is ongoing through a metamorphous to increasing the distribution system’s automation and embrace distributed generation. The level of complexity and technical challenges facing today’s engineering graduates is exciting to me. The NH company has been making significant financial distribution system investments in the last few years installing equipment to automate, control and monitoring the system. There are many technical challenges associated with modernizing a distribution system. We are fortunate to have a company that is committed to making these investments to improve our quality of service. I would encourage engineering graduates to look at Eversource-NH if they would like to become part of the electric utility industry that is ongoing a metamorphous to increasing the distribution system’s automation.

Cons

Not too many. It's been a good place to work for nearly 26+ years

Pros

Good pay and benefits. Normal vacation. Interesting job, meaning it’ll keep you mind sharp.

Cons

There are no goals or expectations set that allows you to prove you’re ready for growth. The only way to advance your career is to be one of the cool guys OR work 16 hours a day and weekends. Bonuses and merit increase is the same across the board no matter how much extra you do. The work force is too small for customer/management and the expectations are set too high. There are not enough vehicles for the work force and often times trainees have no way of getting to the job site. We would run out of stock items (cable, wire, connections, transformer, safety gear) that are necessary to keep the power on. Our best coworkers have left for biggest competitor…me too.
