Pros
Lots of talented people are working hard and working together to solve one of the more complex energy grids in the United States. Genuine commitment to quality work from all team members. My boss was one of the smartest people I ever worked for. There are many good opportunities to work on the leading-edge grid, energy efficiency, and distributed energy resource projects. The deregulated team working on wind is top-notch.
Cons
As with any regulated utility, the constraints of looking to capitalize as much work as possible sometimes distracted the conversation from what was the most important thing to do. That said, Eversource, through its structure in a deregulated and decoupled markets in MA, was able to do creative things in the energy efficiency world. Conservative strategy, in some areas, may be a long-term risk to significant disruption.
