Pros

The only real pro of working at Eversource was the decent pay.

Cons

The work environment is toxic, and management is disorganized. There’s little appreciation for employees, and work-life balance is nonexistent. Upper management prioritizes politics over performance, making it frustrating to get anything done efficiently. The only real perk was having a company truck—everything else made the job more stressful than it was worth. The director overseeing the Meter Services department at the time was never a fan of me, likely due to my potential. Upper management seemed to fear young talent, especially those with strong technical backgrounds like mine in engineering, rather than fostering it. Instead of being encouraged to grow, I constantly faced unnecessary barriers. Work-life balance was nonexistent, stress levels were high, and there was little appreciation for employees. It’s no surprise that the director eventually moved on to the engineering department—perhaps to continue gatekeeping talent there as well. Overall, the experience was disappointing and not worth the frustration.

Pros

Good pay and benefits. Normal vacation. Interesting job, meaning it’ll keep you mind sharp.

Cons

There are no goals or expectations set that allows you to prove you’re ready for growth. The only way to advance your career is to be one of the cool guys OR work 16 hours a day and weekends. Bonuses and merit increase is the same across the board no matter how much extra you do. The work force is too small for customer/management and the expectations are set too high. There are not enough vehicles for the work force and often times trainees have no way of getting to the job site. We would run out of stock items (cable, wire, connections, transformer, safety gear) that are necessary to keep the power on. Our best coworkers have left for biggest competitor…me too.
