Pros

Great work/life balance, easy going atmosphere, not a ton of pressure. Sometimes there are company lunches. Fully stocked snacks and beverages. Easy to take PTO as needed and people are relatively easy to get along with. This is a great company to work at if you want to do minimal work, have no accountability, and don't want to push product out. Also great if you want to move up quickly internally, even if you have no experience in the role you wish to move to.

Cons

Where to begin. With the new CEO at reign for the past couple years now, Evisions has not made much, if any, traction within the higher education vertical. The company still focuses its core with old technology (Win32 based applications), even with new SaaS based products that are in development. It feels like there really isn't any buy-in from leadership and many of the employees, especially those who have been at the company since it's start. They want to stick to their old tech that is comfortable to them. Beyond that, there has been lots of internal shifting which has put people into various leadership roles with zero experience. It has been a slap in the face to those who have actually worked hard and have experience/talent. The people put into these position come across as "yes" men who have formed a bubble with others in leadership, including the CEO. To top it off, leadership has no idea of what these new products do and are talking to the wrong people to get a pulse. The company is "hiring from within", which basically means they do not want to spend the money on people with experience and talent. Instead, they move people from support or other roles into product management. It's turned product management into a cesspool-like department where people just get thrown in there when they don't want to either get rid of people to hurt the morale of the company. It would be different if some of these people had any experience, but they don't and it has watered down product management. Benefits are average and not 100% covered. Avoid like the plague if you expect a fast working environment, you want to push product out constantly, and want to bring value to customers/clients. This company just does things to check off a box and spins things to make it appear like the company is successful. We are nowhere close to our end year goal in 2020 and the CEO hides the number. Ego is huge here and it starts at the top. They promise to provide transparency, but there's a lot they don't talk about or try to avoid like speaking about our revenue goals and where we are at. Simple numbers and no visibility into it.

Evisions Response

On many levels this is disappointing for our company. I’ve read it several times, internalized and self reflected, to do my best to ensure we in fact are not doing what you assert. As well, it would be awesome if we could turn these into constructive criticisms to help our company and its team members. On the latter, I’m struggling to do so. Please be reminded that sharing your opinion so that we may better things for the stakeholders we serve on a daily basis - which includes you! - is always welcome, and please feel comfortable coming to me. I’d be very happy to share any information and/or consider any changes that might help turn this into something positive for you and all. If you do in fact work for Evisions but do not wish to get together, please know that it is our belief that nobody should spend the amount of time working that we all do, and dislike it. It just saddens me and so please accept our sincerest regrets for any unhappiness we’ve caused you to feel. Sincerely, Susan Fierro Head of People & Culture susan.fierro@evisions.com

Pros

I found the company to be extremely supportive and encouraging to work with. Throughout the internship, each team was very involved in facilitating helping us learn and contribute to the best of our ability.

Cons

Wish there were greater opportunities to meet in person.

Pros

Working with higher education clients can be very rewarding. I believe that the man who founded this company was a great person who wanted to help higher education institutions with software that made them more efficient . He hired good people and treated them well, by all accounts. Unfortunately, he passed away several years before I started.

Cons

I was a customer of the company for a very long time and a proud champion of its software. Working for them changed 100% of my opinion of this company. In spite of their stated values and mission, they are laser focused on sales above everything else.. Read the reviews here for the last few years and you will see the only positives come from interns who never see the true culture of the company. Mediocrity is rewarded, hard work is ignored. My compensation package was reduced every year I was there, but the company continued to send emails to all employees whenever a sale was closed -indicating the company was doing very well - they even started a company owned charity called Sweet Geeks. Employees were regularly solicited to donate to this charity. The current management of this company is a group of individuals who worked together in a previous company, which they sold.
