Pros

- Enjoyable to work as a promoter/marketer in the MDR space. The value that Expel's product/platform brings to the security industry is palpable and makes the work feel useful and meaningful vs fluffy. Customer feedback is very positive and heartening. The people who build the platform are among the finest security and product design practitioners in the space. - The Marketing team is full of earnest, warm people leaders and contributors who endeavor to bring their best to work. When we see gaps, we don’t let each other fall, we work to hold each other up. I feel fortunate to have found a place like this to be my authentic self. And so far, it has felt generally stable unlike other businesses in the tech and security space.

Cons

There have been organizationals ups and downs in the past two years since I’ve joined. Those chaotic blips contribute to a sense that our business overall operates too much like a startup vs the more established, and well regarded business that we actually are. Based on new leadership roles that have been hired, new approaches to messaging and sales strategy, it seems our leaders are aware of that atmosphere and are actively working to step up our game across the business. We are focused on bringing aboard authentic, best of the best talent to help Expel move forward as the mature business and security brand that we need to be. Expel is at a fork in the path of its journey, and ideally should only be on the way to becoming an immediate consideration on the minds of our audiences in this space.

Pros

The interview process was absolutely seamless, and I felt well informed about next steps and expectations every step of the way (shoutout to Brandon!). Every single person I met was warm, inviting, and genuinely seemed happy to be part of the Expel team, which made the decision to accept my offer an easy yes! :) The onboarding experience was intentional and thoughtfully personalized to my role, with a checklist that was easy to follow and trainings that built naturally week by week in a way that never felt overwhelming. We also had the opportunity to participate in new hire meet and greets with leaders across the organization, and what continues to stand out to me is the level of transparency, authenticity, and humanness every leader at Expel brings.

Cons

The success of current AEs at Expel is super inspiring, which sets a high bar and everyone is very driven, so it can take a bit of time a to fully ramp and feel confident in your role initially. It also takes time to build key relationships and earn trust with partners and customers, so consistent presence, early territory engagement, and ongoing relationship building are critical to long term success.
