Hibbett Sports

Is this your company?

Not exactly a dream job, but there's for sure much worse out there. - Head Coach Hibbett Sports Employee Review

Pros

Laid back atmosphere, but laziness isn't tolerated. Close relationship with co-workers, including those above, the same as, and below me. Contests run by the corporate office for the stores keep moral high....usually. Opportunity to promote from within is generally pretty rapid.

Cons

Hasn't caught up to the rest of the technological world in retail yet. POS system are very outdated and lacking. Inventory search function is extremely non-user friendly, and such a headache that we don't want to use it. That's no help to the customer, is it? Store managers need more authority to do as they see fit, without having to get an OK from the District Manager for nearly everything. Communication from corporate to store personnel is vague. Furthermore, the ability for store personnel to contact members of the corporate office is nearly impossible. Customers' rewards program is something that we must push, push, push. But it has SO many flaws when compared to other retail stores. It's just awful. And the big one - store managers are required 48 hours a week, and must work 3 weekends a month. With no Overtime pay.

Pros

It is simply a job.

Cons

No training ever. You are lucky to get a raise ever. Store Manager is not paid a salary, and is basically just another employee. Stores are run by the District Manager, not the Store Manager. Pay is insultingly low. I made more as a Store Manager 20 years ago.
