Pros

J. Crew does an excellent job of listening to their employees and understanding their customers. Unlike, other retail environments, J. Crew allows sales associates to remain human and interact with customers on a one-on-one level, while maintaining a level of professionalism. The environment created by management is one that creates respect within, and begets respect throughout. Employees have a voice, and whether you want to move up, or voice a concern, matters are always taken into consideration. Of course, the discount is more than fair.

Cons

Anyone who is not in management is subject to "On-call" shifts. These can be 3 to 8 hour shifts and there is no way to know if you are working or not but a mere 2 hours ahead of time.

Pros

There are a lot of talented, hardworking people at this company, which makes recent leadership decisions even more frustrating.

Cons

Communication around major organizational changes has been vague and inconsistent, leaving employees with significant uncertainty and little confidence in the direction of the business. Morale has declined considerably. Many employees feel that years of experience, performance, and institutional knowledge are being undervalued in favor of rigid policies and top-down decision making.
