Pros

Nothing about the job itself. Having great coworkers was the only bright spot

Cons

When I first started at the company it was great. It showed that it appreciated and respected its employees. It was a place where employees felt valued, which inspired them to work hard and put their best foot forward. At environment quickly changed. The company is run in a way that is shady and constantly scheming. For whatever reason it's run like it is a fortune 500 company and not just an insurance company. Everyone there is out to get everyone else. There is no sense of comradery or team unity at all. The only people that thrive at this company have some kind of connection with upper management; they are either the best of friends or worked at other companies together in the past. They impose ridiculous and impossible to achieve goals. Then they act surprised when no one can achieve them. BUT if you willing suck up to them and worship the ground they walk on, regardless of what goals you are meeting or not, you are golden. But if you challenge the standards or management in any way you are fired within a couple of months. HR is not helpful in this toxic environment because they too are in the managers pocket. Long story short. Don't work here. Stay far away unless you like being micro-management and made to feel like a piece of crap while being overworked, underpaid and under appreciated. If that is what you are looking for than James River is the place for you.
