Pros

Being able to express your personal style and fashion. My team members were great. Support from DM Was great-at first My customer base was AWESOME

Cons

The mandatory music videos we had to endure we're ridiculous at times. Getting hired for a 45hr per week SM position but then being required to work no less than 55 hr (and up to 70 hrs per week at times).....typically consisting of a 6 day work week which included no less than one double and working a good 13 days in a row (which has got be illegal somehow) Slave labor for key holders being paid only 8$/hr but being required to do the job of an assistant manager- unfair only begins to describe that scenario. After about two months, my DM was MIA on her 'office days' where it was our weekly catch up with her. She promoted the sense of 'setting her team up for success'.....more like, if you aren't on board with my mind set then screw you. She'd show up out of the blue, I think to try and catch the store doing something that could get me fired, so she'd have a valid reason to fire me.....my store didn't make plan each week/month. But I was consistent with all my operations, inventory control, loss prevention and all that. So no internal theft at my store, which I think frustrated my DM. She had to fire 4 managers for bad audits/internal theft, in the course of three months. And she lost roughly 6 more management team members in her district over the following three months because of her style of management and lack of training. There was so much stress and time spent at my store that I was barely home. And when I was home, I wasn't really there because I had no energy left for my family and household chores. My fiancé and I were constantly fighting stopped counting the Boy Scout events I missed because I had to work more hours than I should have. NOT A JOB FOR SOMEONE WHO ACTUALLY ENJOYS SPENDING TIME WITH THEIR FAMILY

Pros

- Diversity & inclusion throughout employees - No dress code (other than inappropriate clothing obviously and occasional Journeys t-shirts during holidays) - Paid training - Flexible schedule (at least at my store)

Cons

- Horrible corporate mentality - Only the sales leads and above work on commission even though every employee has to HARD sell - Sales goals that are unrealistic and based off of the previous year's numbers - Little to no benefit for reaching or surpassing the ridiculous sales goals - District managers and corporate employees who say you're not good at your job unless you practically beg customers to buy socks and multiple pairs of shoes even if they came in knowing exactly what they want (to the point of annoying the customer) - Verbal, then write up, then immediate termination if you don't meet or surpass EVERY single category in your MPR (monthly progress report) - District managers who demote the best managers and transfer people to other stores with no say in the matter, as well as letting certain bad managers get away with things without reporting it - lowwwww pay for what is expected of the employee
