Toxic Culture, Poor Leadership, and Zero Support — Proceed with Caution - Patient Care Coordinator LaserAway Employee Review

Pros

-The patients. Building meaningful relationships and supporting people on their skincare journey was truly the most fulfilling part of the role. -The actual work can be rewarding if you're passionate about aesthetics and patient care.

Cons

-Toxic Leadership Culture: Managers rely heavily on fear and control rather than support or development. When I was placed on a performance improvement plan, there was no conversation around how to help me succeed—just repeated reminders of my potential termination date. -Misleading Documentation: My check-ins were manipulated to show false progress, only for follow-up conversations with HR to contradict that narrative. I had to challenge these inaccuracies directly to protect myself and my reputation. -Favoritism and Unequal Treatment: SOPs were ignored when convenient, and favoritism clearly influenced earnings, recognition, and opportunities. If you're not in the "inner circle," expect to be overlooked or overworked. -Overloaded Without Support: I regularly took on duties meant for Lead PCCs and even Location Directors, which pulled me away from sales and directly impacted my metrics. Despite this, the additional responsibilities were never acknowledged in my evaluations. -PTO Is a Hollow Benefit: Time-off requests were frequently denied, regardless of how early they were submitted. Because unused PTO isn’t paid out in Texas, it felt like a false promise rather than a real benefit. -Low Morale Across the Board: These problems aren’t isolated—they reflect a broader issue across multiple locations within the Heartland region: poor leadership, lack of transparency, and high turnover. I’m fully aware this review may be dismissed as coming from a “disgruntled former employee.” That’s why I kept detailed documentation—including emails, chats, texts, and logged phone calls—to support everything I’ve stated here. This isn't written out of emotion, but out of a desire for accountability and transparency. If leadership ever questions what went wrong, the record is clear.

Pros

Competitive pay and strong training for new aesthetic providers. You’ll gain experience quickly because of the high patient volume.

Cons

LaserAway is a sales company disguised as a medical practice. Revenue consistently comes before patient care and provider well-being. Providers are routinely triple booked, making it nearly impossible to give patients the time and attention they deserve. Rushing through consultations and treatments creates unnecessary stress, increases burnout, and can compromise patient safety. Sales consultants have more influence than licensed medical professionals. Treatments are frequently sold before a provider even evaluates the patient, and nurses are often expected to justify or perform services they may not believe are appropriate. Medical opinions are routinely overshadowed by sales goals. The culture prioritizes quotas, memberships, and packages over ethical, patient-centered care. The PTO policy is extremely poor. Full-time employees receive only about 1.5 weeks of PTO per year, yet you’re expected to keep your schedule open seven days a week. You cannot submit unavailability or reliably schedule appointments in advance without using your already limited PTO. Maintaining any work-life balance is unnecessarily difficult.
