Pros

You will work with a few great kids and a few great staff members. Pay is competitive for school employees. Benefits are great and for all full time staff.

Cons

Majority of your job is convincing kids who could not care less about school to come to school. Feel like a phone salesman most of the time. Leaving voicemails and sending unanswered texts and emails is 90% of the day. Company could care less about you. They pay well but that is because they know that is literally the only reason you would stay. Turnover is high because of poor management, nepotism, people hiring their friends over the best qualified candidates. You are worked to death to get ADA - funding- for every student and are threatened with layoffs and the schools being closed on a monthly basis. Admin lie to you to get you to do what they want you to. They give far too much responsibility to tutors and paraprofessionals because they are cheaper to hire than credentialed teachers.

Pros

-6 hours (despite you getting the job and then they try to tell you that you have to work 8 but won’t legally write that down since it’s not legal) -can make a difference for some students

Cons

-admin hires their family and those people do nothing -admin team out for not doing their job but can’t take criticism, blames it on all of the teachers and team while they do nothing all day and gossip -large amounts of favoritism and nepotism at the Chula Vista site -students don’t graduate -10% grad rate and can confirm. They use kids as numbers to blame teachers, but the kid will never graduate -have recently been bribing students with credits to speak about the school favorably when the news comes around -a lot of teachers let students cheat and admin supports it -an extremely hostile work environment where admin allows teachers to scream at one another, no intervention, and threaten staff -crazy work, deadlines, and lack of accountability as to where teacher funding goes
