Pros

Learn4Life pays their teachers and administrators very well. The benefits offered are generous.

Cons

This is a school that is primarily focused on earning money. Despite being a nonprofit, they hold teachers to unrealistic attendance goals and teachers are written up for low attendance numbers, with the constant refrain that we, the staff, are responsible for keeping the school open. People are hired and promoted due to personal relationships with other members of the administration, including rampant nepotism. The people put into these positions are often unqualified, and it shows in their interactions with staff and students. Staff are harangued in groups and individually for their failings and then questioned about morale, as it is a top priority for them to feel liked. Our working conditions were often unsafe, and there are no plans to require vaccines. There is no support of a union. By the time I left, several of my colleagues were on the cusp of leaving or applying for stress leave. I urge you to seek employment anywhere else.

Pros

-6 hours (despite you getting the job and then they try to tell you that you have to work 8 but won’t legally write that down since it’s not legal) -can make a difference for some students

Cons

-admin hires their family and those people do nothing -admin team out for not doing their job but can’t take criticism, blames it on all of the teachers and team while they do nothing all day and gossip -large amounts of favoritism and nepotism at the Chula Vista site -students don’t graduate -10% grad rate and can confirm. They use kids as numbers to blame teachers, but the kid will never graduate -have recently been bribing students with credits to speak about the school favorably when the news comes around -a lot of teachers let students cheat and admin supports it -an extremely hostile work environment where admin allows teachers to scream at one another, no intervention, and threaten staff -crazy work, deadlines, and lack of accountability as to where teacher funding goes
