Pros

Benefits. Making an impact on students in low income communities.

Cons

This company has a deeply seeded toxic culture that you’ll notice after a few years of working here. Leadership throws the word “we are family” to hide toxic traits of paying people low salaries or being cut if you’re not a ‘yes’ person. There is a massive salary disparity to those who are linked to someone above senior leadership when in reality many get piled with work far beyond their job description, HR gave a big raise to teachers and this hype was talked about out for months, meanwhile classified workers are silently ignored and never promoted. L4Lis great for experience for 2 years but then leave to be massively compensated. There are employees who will never get fired / laid off from L4L because of family ties and higher ups who make $120k while many who should be in middle management or promoted as a lead won’t get there unless catering to every Superintendent or Sr. Director needs.

Pros

-6 hours (despite you getting the job and then they try to tell you that you have to work 8 but won’t legally write that down since it’s not legal) -can make a difference for some students

Cons

-admin hires their family and those people do nothing -admin team out for not doing their job but can’t take criticism, blames it on all of the teachers and team while they do nothing all day and gossip -large amounts of favoritism and nepotism at the Chula Vista site -students don’t graduate -10% grad rate and can confirm. They use kids as numbers to blame teachers, but the kid will never graduate -have recently been bribing students with credits to speak about the school favorably when the news comes around -a lot of teachers let students cheat and admin supports it -an extremely hostile work environment where admin allows teachers to scream at one another, no intervention, and threaten staff -crazy work, deadlines, and lack of accountability as to where teacher funding goes
