Pros

awesome way to learn how to use ultrasound and place good quality IVs, midlines, and PICCs. This job is low stress compared to bedside and the team is fun. Good way to learn about new medical devices. New VAT manager is lovely and allows us our time off even if we dont have the PTO saved for it.

Cons

Clinical educator is mostly an educator to all other nurses besides ours, teaching them how to use ultrasound and undermining the importance of having a quality Vascular Access Team, and we often have to come in and clean up the mess of the hack who screwed up the patients arms before they called us. Financial issues at Legacy have admin watching our team to see how they can cut our team. Not a whole lot of growth potential in this role.

Pros

Not much to say anymore.

Cons

My first couple years here, I used to like this place but it's really going downhill fast. They are in the hole financially but instead of cutting pay for the millionaire executives (at a non-profit?!), they are now going to force people to use 2 weeks of leave at Christmas. And if someone doesn't have enough leave, they will be required to take unpaid. This is a "legal" loophole that should be illegal. They also don't believe in merit raises, instead giving a 2% across the board raise regardless of whether the person earns it. Some people work hard, while others barely work, and we all get the same 2% "raise"? This ship is sinking, so get out while you can and avoid at all costs.
