Pros

There is no "season" for this kitchen. It is a steady flow of the same clientele all year. You will almost always get two days off per week. The residents appreciate and deserve a good meal. Directors are friendly.

Cons

Many days will be 11-12 hours long with no backup in the kitchen. There are occasions where meetings will be called with almost no advance notice. Even for mandatory meetings. Many proper tools and storage space are not provided.

Pros

The residents are the pros. I enjoy taking care of them and making them happy.

Cons

Expecting a 5 star hospitality experience with instantaneous response times for every resident. Management does not help when there are staffing shortages. They won’t help answer call bells or assist in the kitchen. Legend wants to run the shift with the bare minimums for staff to resident ratios. Having to be an aide changing soiled briefs to then passing meals in the dining room is insanitary. They want you to do extra work but don’t want to pay overtime. Your shift is for 8 hours minus 30 minutes for an unpaid meal break that you must take. So you never get a 40 hour work week pay, only 37.5.
