Pros

- lots of pot lucks and other social-type events - a vague feeling that you're helping people in need - a growing industry with lots of potential as boomers get older - the money is ok, if you work at the home office - reasonable work/life balance (at home office, anyway)

Cons

- this is a very competitive industry and i'm not convinced LSL is good enough to stay on top - owner and (to a lesser degree) his son are constantly meddling in areas where they have no real expertise instead of trusting their employees to do their jobs - constantly changing priorities, sometimes literally from one day to the next - really demoralizing to know how underpaid and overworked the employees in the communities are - baffling to hear management wonder aloud why turnover is so high - infuriating to hear about the owner building his "Garage-mahal" to hold all of his cars while the employees on the front lines are qualifying for government assistance and Pell grants - sometimes feel like you're ripping off old people - there's an oddly religious corporate culture, even though the communities aren't affiliated with any faith - insurance is kind of expensive and PTO is stingy - this is the kind of company that would notice unanimously negative Glassdoor reviews and pressure all employees to write positive reviews, even after someone in marketing warned that it would look staged and pathetic, backfiring tremendously (again, upper management values nobody's expertise but their own)

Pros

The residents are the pros. I enjoy taking care of them and making them happy.

Cons

Expecting a 5 star hospitality experience with instantaneous response times for every resident. Management does not help when there are staffing shortages. They won’t help answer call bells or assist in the kitchen. Legend wants to run the shift with the bare minimums for staff to resident ratios. Having to be an aide changing soiled briefs to then passing meals in the dining room is insanitary. They want you to do extra work but don’t want to pay overtime. Your shift is for 8 hours minus 30 minutes for an unpaid meal break that you must take. So you never get a 40 hour work week pay, only 37.5.
