Pros
You are given a chance to learn a lot of new skills. There is a lot of potential in the science and you get to address some really interesting questions. The lower level employees are great colleagues and become friends.
Cons
The long term scientific strategy of the company doesn't exist. Past scientific decisions were not well thought out and nothing is learned from previous mistakes. You will be worked to the point where you lose yourself completely (stop engaging in hobbies, decline in ability to complete household chores/projects, relationships suffer, etc.). There aren't any benefits to offset the intense work expectations as employees are not treated as people, but a means to an end. Upper management uses lies, manipulation, and fear tactics to try to get employees to stay. The business is poorly organized with ever-changing objectives.
