Pros

High ownership and autonomy- lots of opportunity to drive operational improvements Meaningful impact on the business-everyone’s role adds value, and their contributions shape mission readiness and customer delivery Complex and interesting work- always learning, continuous improvement, good networking and collaboration. Loft in general is an awesome place to join. It’s a hard working environment that is also very rewarding with its culture and people!

Cons

Ambiguity is real- roles and responsibilities can shift quickly so must be comfortable to adapt and be flexible Processes are still maturing- processes become live before fully formed, so may have more gaps and improvements identified post role out and this may result in lots of updates or change

Pros

The people are what make Loft. Low ego, incredibly smart and hard working. While no person or company is perfect, I believe the founders and leadership genuinely care about their people. I've never felt like I was just a number at loft. I've seen them support and stand behind employees in ways I've never seen at other companies. They've also done an amazing job of hiring and selecting the right people to join. The bar for performance at Loft is high, the expectations are high and (at least for my job and immediate teammates), the pace at which we work is demanding. To me, these are pros because it means I'm constantly being pushed and growing my skillset.

Cons

Struggling to transition for start up mentality to growth/scale up mode. Sometimes it can be difficult to map my day to day work and priorities to lofts vision for the future. I think leadership could provide more clarity on their vision for the future and spend more time on aligning teams across the company. It seems we have a leadership team that is too large to be effective and of course that slows down the rest of the org and creates inefficiency at our level. Sometimes hours and days can be really long and challenging - especially this last year. Semi green leadership team + first time founders has some drawbacks. They seem to take forever to learn from our mistakes and unfortunately I don't see them investing in their growth and development as leaders. That is the only piece that really disappoints me at loft. It can seem like leadership holds people to a different standard (of performance and execution) than what they hold themselves to. I wish they would invite more feedback and share their own failures and development goals. This is particularly challenging with engineering leaders who have a lot of autonomy and influence but don't manage people or teams. Their roles are ambiguous and vague and that creates a lot of confusion within engineering.
