Pros

Professional, laid back productive environment. Tons of hot leads. 90% of leads come from Mariner's customers. Commission is amazing and attainable.

Cons

Doesn't have intense training for Customer Service Associates, but there's a lot of help from team members to answer questions and concerns. Base pay could be more.

Pros

There are many locations, benefits are decent, it does have a good 401k program.

Cons

There is not much training, the people that do train you are on zoom calls while you're in the office, a lot of them end up embarrassing you in front of the group of people you're training with. The company expects outrageous goals that no one can realistically achieve. You are in trouble if you don't call people at their jobs, they make you drive to courthouses to sue people and make you drive to car dealerships weekly to try to get a dealership to sign with your office, with no extra pay for the drive, they pay mileage but that's only a few cents. If you have a great month of hitting goals you are praised for a day, but once a new month starts everything is erased and you will be scolded if you don't hit your goals. I have worked at Mariner Finance for 8 years at all different roles and have worked at this company in 3 different states thinking that would create some change but it did not. The company does not care about its employees. There are some decent management but most are not great. They decline your pto often, make you work Saturdays just when they feel like it. And on the last day of every month they make you stay until 7pm making collection calls. They do not close on Christmas Eve, trying to get time away with your family around Christmas time is impossible because they only allow you to take 2 days off in the month of December and it can't be Christmas Eve. I put a lot of thought into this review and am leaving it for anyone who may be thinking this type of company might be right for you. I would recommend going somewhere like Onemain or Lendmark, I have not worked at either but some fellow colleagues have worked there or have transferred to those companies and have expressed that they do not expect so much there. The pay is awful. I know people who make more at costco. You work like a dog with the kind of pay you could find easier somewhere else. Their bonus program was good a few years ago but they took that away years ago. So even if you're the top sales person in your region, your bonus is very little. I would never recommend Mariner to anyone sadly. I think this company could be great if it wanted to, but it has only gotten worse over the years.
