Pros
The co-workers at Maurices were great people. I enjoyed working with all of them, they made me feel like family right away. They were all very friendly, helpful, and inviting. The 40% discount was great to have. The company also offers some sort of money give away on a regular basis to the associates who can get the highest statistics/MMC's as away to encourage employees.
Cons
I was hired as a part time assistant manager and was told I would work 2 to 4 nights a week (mostly nights and occasional weekends). Once I was hired though I was schedule at least 5 to 6 days during the week and called to come in early or on my day off at least 2 or 3 times a week. I had another part time job during this time that I had to give up because I was constantly working at Maurices. Although I have always hated working nights, I figured I would sacrifice doing it a couple days out of the week to get management experience; however when I started working 5/6 days out of the week it became stressful because I never got to see my husband who would work a 8 a.m to 4 p.m shift and I would have to go in 1 p.m to 9 p.m. Splurge parties are another disadvantage. These are when customer get to schedule a party after hours - once or twice a month isn't so bad but our store would schedule anywhere from 4 to 8 parties if not more. With the parties, we would easily be at the store until 11 or 12 o'clock at night. In the end they ask their associates to do a lot more work than the pay they give in return.
