Could be a great place to work, but Corporate needs to make changes to the way things are handled. - Part Time Assistant Manager Maurices Employee Review

Pros

Discounts, flexible schedule, contests and card loads. The company promotes within, and the meetings that are held every so often to make sure everyone is on the same page.

Cons

Your hours are based on your average dollar sales, units per transaction, and MCC sign ups. Even though the company states that you can complete all of you goals every shift if you really try your hardest, that isn't the case. If the store has a "slow day," and maybe 6-10 people walk in, you can't expect every person to spend hundreds of dollars, just so you can make your goal for the day. Not every person wants to sign up for a MCC. It doesn't matter how much you try to convince them that they could save an additional 10% if they're approved, some people just don't want one. You cannot force a customer to sign up. Also, if you sell an item to someone, and they decide later that they want to return it, that return counts against you. You cannot control whether or not someone returns something, for any reason they have. If you're able to get them to exchange it for something else, that's fine and dandy, but if they don't, that's "X" amount of dollars extra that you have to make up in your goal. The environment can be very stressful, not only because of the stores goals, but because of the drama that goes on between the team.

Pros

AMAZING team and encouraging, helpful supervisors. Helped me in every aspect of life, even outside work. Definitely made connections for life.

Cons

Retail hours: holidays, evenings, and weekends. Lower than average pay, and benefits are not the best.

Pros

I work with a great group of girls that really care about the people they work with each day.

Cons

DL is very micro managing and no one does anything because she's been with the company for years. They play favorites in the district and say they want to support you in a project but they really want to control it and have you do it their way but they aren't there for the execution of it. They control when and how often you can use your PTO and believe that you have to eat sleep and breath maurices even in your days off. Its absolutely draining. There are some good DLs but there are some that are just narcissistic. And there is no way to provide the feedback of what you are dealing with because you are dismissed, told that she knows what she's talking about because of the years under her belt and then when the plan fails that wasn't your plan to begin with, you get blamed. Its unfair and I feel trapped.
