Pros
Great team and store atmosphere.
Cons
Ever since the previous CEO George stepped down, this company has gone downhill drastically and core values have changed. Op Capita and the current CEO care more about dollar signs than they do about their employees. Maurices is nowhere near the work environment that they once were. Programs are rolled out before finalization of previous projects, which is extremely frustrating to stores, but yet every day there is a new update, error, or a message saying sorry we missed this. It is messy and disorganized. Home office is out of touch with reality and should spend a full week working in the field to understand frustrations. District leaders put the workload of their own job responsibilities onto their strong store leaders without truly investing in them, or giving them a comparable raise as a thank you. I am not sure how District leaders get by without ever attending a store meeting, a new store opening, new store leader orientation, or Evsie launches and if you really think about it how are they contributing to the bottom line by sitting at home answering emails but not in stores investing in teams? Some how they continue to slip through the cracks and the Regional leaders should take a closer look at what is happening within districts. Maurices preaches about a customer first mindset but what about an employee first mindset? It is virtually non existent. 1st assistants receive 0 recognition for the role they play within stores and Maurices has never done anything to show their gratitude towards them as next in line to run the store. Maurices should allow their employees to focus on their own 4 walls instead of having peers travel constantly to other stores to train, that is the job of the DISTRICT LEADER. If the district leader cannot train their new employees then maybe they shouldn’t have the title of the district leader. The job responsibilities for district leader clearly states that they need to be able to operate a register however, I have yet to meet one that knew how to do so. There is 0 diversity in marketing and all marketing is nearly white washed. People have complained for years but they have yet to put a black woman with box braids or authentic Afros. I could go on and on but I’ll leave it at this… don’t waste your time on a trashy company.
