Pros

Discounts, bonuses, the fast paced, high energy, helping customers

Cons

Did not celebrate wins Certain management talked about stylists behind their back and WITH other stylists. Asst managers do not know how to train. Some are very impatient and will take over your segments or just allow you to not do your job. While still trying to navigate the store and team a month in, i was left to fend for myself. Questions were met w eye rolls or 'use your resources.' I was given little to no support from the first line asst manager. She would cut me off mid sentence while talking to a customer. And after a customer thanked me for not pushing the card on her (i had a long talk while helping her shop so she knew everything it offered and didn't want it) however the first line cut her off and told her she was gonna be that person that pushed the card on her. The customer was so upset by the time she left. Signups for cards are prioritized over doing what's best for the customer. There was a reason I do so great with signups and customers..i listen and respect them. Felt like the manager sold the job to me and wasn't honest when she did. She told me she was understand and empathetic. However, when I came down with a very nasty case of the stomach flu (which i ended up going to the hospital for) I was expected to work thru it. I thought I did a decent job of adjusting schedules and reaching out to those who were available for the day. However, instead of coming to me to explain what I could do better, the asst manager lied and said I did nothing (i had asked for some ideas as to what i could do bc every time I would work w this asst, she just took over the whole day and does whatever she wants. So i wanted to make sure she was happy with what i was trying to do while also being very sick. I had to work EVERY day I was sick. 4 days in I went to the manager and said I was too sick to work. She told me that i needed to work and that I'm not the person she thought she was hiring. Even though i helped them get bonus for the month for the first time in a long time and I'm excellent at getting card signups. I was told I was no longer allowed to learn the way that works for me and that I needed to do it her way. She also told me that she 'runs' the business and can't afford to have empathy. Even though she runs a store and the workers and part of her job is getting workers to WANT to work FOR you. It's blatant that these stylists do not work FOR her. And she has zero clue how to get them to do it. I think she forgets what it's like to learn a whole store after having not worked in retail management for over a year. I thought i was doing pretty great 4 weeks in-I was running everything by myself and got card signups daily, as did my workers. But according to the manager, it wasn't quick enough. The manager also works VERY cushy hours. 3 days on, 1 day off, 2 days on, 1 day off, 4 days on, 3 days off. However myself and the other asst were working 5 or 6 days on and 1 day off, 2 or 3 on, 1 off. 4 on, 1 off, 3 on, 1 off. The Golden Rule doesn't apply to this store. There is a reason that the manager has only been a store manager at 1 store for 25 years. Her only job. Out of touch imo. Has no clue what it's like to learn EVERYTHING. Especially someone new to clothing retail. When i was hired I was also told the store was in the top 20 of the company for highest volume. Which cannot be true since they hadn't made monthly sales plan for many months until I arrived AND the store was consistently in the bottom quarter of the district. I feel like that was another lie on top of training time and team morale. 3 pt asst managers are in highschool or just out of it. They do not understand how to train when it comes to helping others grow. They can teach the job but not do the things needed to lift up the team.
