Pros
I recommend MedStar as an employer. It is a good company to work at. I have worked at one of the hospitals and at the Corporate offices. They offer a great benefits package, a lot of vacation time, I have been with them for almost 8 years and I accumulate about 9 hours of Paid Time Off per paid period. Good health insurance coverage for the price you pay. Time off policies, I would say are very flexible in most departments. In the positions I have been, my schedule has been very flexible, probably because I am a salaried employee, schedule flexibility is more limited for hourly paid employees. They give you a tuition assistance, is not that much but it helps a lot. I paid great part of my Master's program with the money they give me.
Cons
My dissatisfaction at MedStar has been related to Career growth. It takes a lot of time for you to move up even if you have experience and education. If you keep applying and don't give up it happens, but again, ti takes time. The issue is that they don't hire from within, they don't give priority to internal candidates even if you work hard and perform well, they hire who they like, period. Also, salaries are not very competitive, depending on the position and the department, but in general, salaries are just ok. You may receive a cost of living increase every year, but that's almost nothing.
